October 2026, 19th -23rd, Port-Louis, Brittany, France
Third edition of our research coding and coaching retreat !
The retreat is aimed both as a team building and as a research seminar where participants share and develop the methods and codes of their individual project to consolidate know-how and skills within the quantitative geography team for the University of Luxembourg.
This is mostly an R spatial training and a research seminar with long presentations with in-depth feedback from the group.
The program is simple with each researcher given the floor in the morning and coding/writing sessions in the afternoon, leaving late afternoon for team building activities, including a fresh “baignade” in the autumn sea or enjoying “crepes”.
This year presenations will be as follows:
- Léandre Fabri on re-inventing the urban shape index
- Kerry Schiel on sprawl indices across African cities
- “Claire” Yajing Tong on the floor area index and subcenters
- “Ray” Ke Liu on the distance decay of disposable income
- and Isabelle Pigeron on cross-border labour patterns: the story of a thesis
For the venue, we joint-venture with the Gîtes de Kerouzec (https://gitesdekerouzec.fr/) which offers housing in the small but fully serviced town of Port-Louis where all our needs are fulfilled in under 5min walk! No time wasted!
Organizer: Geoffrey Caruso, University of Luxembourg.
Venue: 5 Place au Bois, 56290 Port-Louis FR
